The Deseret News runs an opinion piece by Democrat Dave Thomas (My View, March 6), wherein he praises moderate Republicans for voting for the so-called "stimulus" bill. Dave calls for these Republicans to become "Red Dogs," similar to the Democratic "Blue Dogs" — Jim Matheson among them — who take a moderate approach in Congress. The same day, the Deseret News runs an article titled, "Quiet Revolt among Democratic moderates in Congress?" wherein the aforementioned Matheson says that he has voted against President Barack Obama's 2009 spending bill because it hasn't been given due scrutiny and discussion.
I hope that those "moderate" Republicans will follow Matheson's lead by helping him slow down our current wild spendfest.
