What the Brady Bunch taught me about parenting

Case in point: Her children chose to paint numbers on the curb to earn money for a charity. Though they earned a significant amount, one prepaid customer still remained. Summer ended, then fall, then winter, and finally spring, and despite Linda's nagging and embarrassment, the job remained undone.

Finally, Linda got an idea. She pulled her son aside and told him that he was a stellar son, how conscientious and hard-working and utterly responsible he was.

Wisely, she let a few minutes lapse then casually threw in, "I think [the store] is open today to buy some new stencils. The snow has melted, and I'd sure love to see those numbers on [their] curb when I drive past tomorrow." The numbers were on the curb the next day.

Given a moment, you will likely remember a creative parenting solution from your own parents. Be creative this week, and see what delightful responses await.

LIFETip: When a frustrating situation besets you, pause and consider a Brady Bunch creative response.
