Draper and Midvale companies get national award

The I-15 NOW project in Weber County and the contractors who built it were awarded an excellence in partnering award by the Associated General Contractors of America, according to a Thursday statement from the association.

The project cost $264.1 million and spanned 10.5 miles from the I-84 ramp of I-15 to the Pleasant View area of Weber County. The project started in 2005 and was finished last year. Freeway lanes were widened, and six interchanges were rebuilt, said UDOT spokesman Vic Saunders.

The award noted the efforts of Granite Construction Co. of Watsonville, Calif. Granite Construction formed a consortium with Draper-based Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Co. and the Midvale office of Michael Baker Jr. Inc. as the lead designer.

Other projects recognized by the association were a high school project in the Los Angeles Unified School District, a bridge in Alexandria, Va., and the restoration of the Milwaukee City Hall.
