A third man has been arrested in connection with the burglary of Olympic bicyclist and Salt Lake resident David Zabriskie's home.
Late Thursday, police arrested Craig William Carlisle, 43, and booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of two counts of burglary, three counts of theft and two counts of receiving stolen property.
After arresting the main suspect in the case, Leopold Jay Howard, on Wednesday night, investigators developed information on possible addresses tied to Carlisle and held surveillance on those places Thursday, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Robin Snyder.
That led detectives to the West Valley home of Carlisle's girlfriend, where he was arrested without incident, she said.
But as was the case with previous arrests, very little of Zabriskie's possessions were found.
On Feb. 15, a person, or people, broke into Zabriskie's house while he was away at a race and took about $250,000 in property. According to jail records, someone then went back the next day and took even more items.
Everything from TVs and other electronics to rare items such as race medals, 13 bicycles worth an estimated $10,000 each, mementos from the 2008 Beijing Olympics and statues of Marvel characters were taken.
As of Friday, both of Zabriskie's cars had been recovered, at least one bicycle, some clothes and his espresso machine.
But many of his irreplaceable items were still missing.
The break in the case came Feb. 24 when detectives investigating another case came across one of Zabriskie's missing vehicles. Arthur Roll, 30, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of possessing the stolen car.
Police believe Howard was the main person responsible for the extensive burglary.
As of Friday, police had not released any other names of potential suspects.
Nearly a dozen search warrants have been served throughout the valley in an effort to find Zabriskie's items.
Zabriskie is one of Utah's most decorated bicyclists and currently holds the world record for the fastest time trial in the history of the Tour de France.
He also has won three stages of the Tour de France and is a multiple winner of the U.S. National Time Trial Championship.
