GUSHER, Uintah County — Two men were killed in a head-on collision Wednesday night on U.S. 40.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Rex Olsen said Timothy Reynolds, 48, of Vernal, was driving a pickup truck east on the highway at about 5:30 p.m. when he crossed the center line and slammed into a pickup truck driven by Chad Porter, 30, of Provo.

Both men died at the scene.

Olsen said witnesses told troopers that Reynolds was either weaving in his lane or was attempting to pass at the time of the crash. He said troopers do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Traffic was rerouted off U.S. 40 for about three hours.
