The "American Idol" hopes of one Utahn were extinguished on Wednesday night, while the hopes of another were re-ignited.

Taylor Vaifanua, the 17-year-old from Hurricane, was not voted into the "Idol" finals by viewers after a performance that got the cold shoulder from the show's judges. And she was not chosen by those judges to participate in tonight's wildcard show (7 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13).

However, Megan Corkrey, the 23-year-old single mom from Sandy, was one of eight previously eliminated contestants called back as one of those wildcards.

"I am going to be myself and sing my heart out," she said.

Three of the eight wildcards will be sent to the finals by judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.

In this week's voting, Lil Rounds, Scott MacIntyre and Jorge Nunez joined Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Michael Sarver in the Final 12.
