Deciding where to play college basketball can be an overwhelming decision for some. But with the help of her high school coach, one Utah stand-out was able to keep it in perspective.

"During the high school season I didn't worry about it too much," said Springville senior Ashley Kroneberger on Tuesday morning, after she committed to play for UNLV. "My coach just told me to focus on my high school team and working hard. She said the rest would work out and I'd be able to figure it out."

Springville earned its first region title and then finished second in the 4A State Tournament behind Kroneberger's 16.42 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.6 steals, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.

Kroneberger said UNLV coaches offered her a scholarship Monday night.

"It seems like a quick decision, but I've been talking to them for a while," the Red Devils guard said.

"I really, really like their coaching staff. I went there for a game ... I met a couple of players and they were really nice, friendly and down-to-earth. I'll also get a really good educaiton."

She said the warm weather and proximity to home were factors, as well as the fact that the Rebels are in the Mountain West Conference.

"I'll miss my family, but I am excited," she said. "They're excited. I mean, who doesn't want to take a trip to Vegas?"

Kroneberger said coaches made no commitments about playing time, but she's heading to school in the summer in hopes of working hard to earn some playing time.

"I'm going to work out so I'll be able to earn my spot on the team," she said.
