MOAB — Little progress has been made to find a 5-year-old girl who vanished in the waters of the Colorado River.

The Utah Department of Public Safety said its dive team is continuing to search the frigid waters for Danica Maestas, who was believed to have been trapped inside a car that plunged down a 60-foot canyon and fell into the river on Friday.

"They have not located the car or the girl, either," UHP trooper Cameron Roden said Monday. "They have got several challenges as far as how far the car would have drifted before it sank and there are boulders on the floor of the river."

Divers using sonar have found only rocks so far, authorities said.

The car plunged off the cliff on Friday. The driver, Evelyn M. Maestas, 60, of Mancos, Colo., and her adopted daughter Tori, 11, were able to escape through a broken window and get out of the river. They told police they saw Danica still inside their Nissan as it sank.
