ZION NATIONAL PARK — A 48-year old man was found dead 400 feet below Canyon Overlook in Zion National Park Thursday.
Rangers in the park noticed a vehicle that was parked overnight at the Canyon Overlook Trail, which prompted a search for the occupant or occupants of the car on Wednesday, according to a news release from the park. The search continued on Thursday and the body was found early that morning.
Park officials said the location of the body indicates that the man fell from the overlook, which is a popular viewpoint in the area.
The name of the man is being withheld until his family has been notified. The incident is under investigation by the Washington County Sherriff's Office and the National Park Service.
