Harmons at Bangerter Crossing will host a book signing and cooking classes with Pamela Sheldon Johns, author of "50 Great Appetizers" (Andrews McMeel, $14.99). Johns and her family live on a farm near Florence, Italy, and she has written 14 cookbooks.

The free book signing, with appetizer samples, is March 13, 6-7 p.m. The class, "Great Appetizers," is March 14, 11 a.m. A second class, "Great Pasta Sauces," follows at 4 p.m. Classes are $49 each (www.harmonsgrocery.com).

Costa Vida launched an interactive online community last week at www.costavida.net. Customers who join can receive special promotions, and other rewards. The Web site features cooking tips and recipes by executive chef David Prows.

The site also shows monthly videos of the company's CEO Nathan Gardner participating in extreme activities, such as mountain biking and skydiving.

The Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest, which attracted more than 1,000 entries from kids across the country, has been narrowed to 10 finalists.

Peanut butter fans can now vote for their favorite recipe at www.jif.com through Feb. 27. The grand prize is a $25,000 scholarship fund.

Johnniebeefs celebrated its second anniversary last week. The locally owned quick service restaurant focuses on Chicago-style hotdogs, Windy City burgers, sausages, fries, and shakes. Customers can go to www.johnniebeefs.com to print a discount coupon for future purchases.

350 Main Brasserie in Park City is hosting a Spanish wine dinner March 2, 7 p.m. Cost is $50 for dinner, $35 for optional wine pairings. Also, the restaurant's global tapas menus is back. All tapas are $5 at the bar.
