Reaction to the passing of Larry H. Miller has poured into the Deseret News Web site since the news broke Friday afternoon.
Readers from across the globe left hundreds of comments expressing their condolences to the Miller family, as well as sharing some memories of Larry's influence in Utah.
"A giant of the Salt Lake community has left us," read a comment attributed to the Wilbur family from Panaca, Nev. "He will be greatly missed. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who helped so many around him. May the Lord comfort his family at this time."
Even some international readers shared their feelings after hearing the news of Miller's death.
"Larry Miller was a perfect model of support for the Utah community during the 15 years I lived there," read a comment attributed to John Hugens, Seoul, Korea. "He will be missed, and is surely in heaven as we speak. A truly great man, great Utahn, and overall a good person. Your impact won't soon be forgotten on the people of Utah. Goodbye, people around the world were touched by you, and don't forget it."
Some readers were short and to the point.
"What a giant of a man — for his business, his community and his Church. He will be missed," read a comment attributed to Bryan Weston.
Many others wrote of the influence Miller had on their own lives, whether they knew him personally or not.
"Sure love you today Miller family," read one such comment. "I know exactly how you feel. My dad passed away at the 'young' age of 64, too. My father and I spent many hours in front of the tube watching Larry's team playing on Larry's TV station in the house that Larry built. Then afterwards we went to get ice cream in a car Larry sold us. Did he make an impact on our lives or what? I actually graduated from Larry's high school with his same grade point avg. Thank you Miller family for sharing your dad with us. I'm mourning with you today!!!"
But perhaps the most common feelings shared were people that feel the state of Utah just lost one of its best.
"Larry H. Miller was a great man who always followed his morals and values. He created the greatest franchise in NBA history! My thoughts and prayers are with he and his family. A big piece of Salt Lake has left us today," read a comment attributed to Jazzfan.
