All I could hear in my head when I read the "My View" (Feb. 16) from Marc Haddock, the former managing editor for the Daily Herald was, "Wah, wah, wah." The only example given for declining circulation is the increase in Internet advertising. How about the poor quality of news writing and stories in the Herald and various weekly local papers? Not to mention the price for the weeklies was the same as any other paper.
Contrary to what Mr. Haddock believes, consumers do look for quality. The Herald and the various local weeklies just aren't up to the level of the Deseret News or Salt Lake Tribune, as bad as they are. Had you put out a quality product we wouldn't be having this discussion.
