Manchester City will make another attempt to sign AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka at the end of the season, the Sunday Mirror said, without saying where it got the information.
City pulled out of a soccer record 100 million-pound ($144 million) deal last month after talks stalled because of the player's complicated personal advertising endorsements, the newspaper said.
City, backed by the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment, has been told that Milan will sanction a move at the end of the season, the Mirror reported.
Kaka, 26, wants a transfer to Real Madrid, although the Spanish club is instead planning a bid for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the newspaper.
City is prepared to meet Milans asking price and will pay Kaka £350,000 a week, the Mirror said. In return it wants to use Kaka in commercial projects to promote City and Abu Dhabi, the newspaper added.
