Overstock gets A+

Salt Lake City-based Overstock.com had its Better Business Bureau rating upgraded this week, from C+ to A+.

When the local BBB first unveiled its new business ratings system, which changed ratings to a letter grade, it sent letters to companies that were accredited with BBB, seeking information on their size, number of employees, size of revenue and number of customers, BBB Utah President Jane Driggs said Friday. Overstock.com did not answer post card, e-mail and phone calls seeking the information, and the BBB tried to get the most accurate information from a local business magazine, which listed the company as smaller than it actually is.

When a Deseret News story Wednesday reported that Overstock.com had a C+ rating, the company consulted with the BBB office, gave the office more accurate company information and received an A+, Driggs said.
