Take time to be fun and 'fancy' free with children

In fact, when we go somewhere, we just want to sit and parent in the lawn chair, preferably with shade and a cool drink, and NO interruptions (translate: "Go PLAY.")
Just this week, even just today, consider what goofy thing you can do with your children, from toddler young to grown adult, that can step out of the norm.
Some of my fondest memories are those that were inconvenient, last-minute and out of the norm. I loved the time I let my children revel in the mud, WITH MY APPROVAL, and took pictures after to prove it.
Or the time I let them make a horse stable out of my good pillows or when we made a child-directed movie.
Lest you think I'm always a spontaneous mother, sadly I've had to dig deep to remember those moments.
And rather than make this just one more thing you're not doing, it's exactly the opposite. Put down the structured planner today and simply play on the floor with your children. Stop what you're doing and pick up your teenager for lunch, just for the surprise (and no complaints on the greasy place they prefer).
Just for today, add a little "Fancy Nancy" in your life, no matter your children's ages.
LIFETip: Choose a silly way to celebrate today with your children, then do it without worry of embarrassment!
