The Utah Division of Consumer Protection confirms that the U.S. Census Bureau is mailing out a survey called "The American Community Survey" to a sampling of the population.
The confirmation comes after concerned citizens had wondered whether the surveys were legitimate, since they asked for income information.
The bureau is inviting everyone who received a mailer or phone call to contact the Denver regional office to make sure they have received a legitimate survey. That number is 1-800-852-6159. Citizens can also learn more about the survey by logging onto the U.S. Census Bureau Web site at: www.census.gov/acs.
