SUNSET — Local prognosticator and guinea pig Sunset Sam will make a short-term weather prediction for the 15th year in a row during Groundhog Day festivities Monday.
If Sunset Sam watches as the sun sets in the western sky, there will be at least six more days of winter.
If Sam ignores the sunset, then spring is right around the corner.
Sunset Sam will make his prediction Monday at sunset, about 5:45 p.m., at Sunset City Hall, 200 W. 1300 North.
Vicky Gold, Sunset's recreation supervisor, said hot chocolate will be available for those who brave the frigid evening. And for those who really want to get inside, the city is hosting an art show in the Sunset Room at City Hall.
Art comes from local residents and will include paintings, drawings, needlepoint and crochet.
