Avalanche danger has been elevated to considerable across the state as more snowstorms arrived Wednesday.
The Utah Avalanche Center said there were two incidents involving backcountry enthusiasts on Tuesday. In Neffs Canyon, a skier cut a slab release about 10 feet above him, carrying him for 250 feet down a slope.
"He lost some gear but apparently he's OK," avalanche forecaster Drew Hardesty wrote in an advisory posted at utahavalanchecenter.org.
In the Woodland Hills area, a snowmobiler was caught in a slide but was able to escape. A few natural avalanches were reported overnight in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Hardesty wrote.
