In his My View (Jan. 25) Sen. Orrin Hatch spends more time arguing for a congressional seat for Washington, D.C., than for Utah. He ignores that Congress has repeatedly — for good reasons — rejected a seat for D.C. in the past. He continually avoids why D.C. is more deserving than the good people of Puerto Rico, Guam, etc.
In the final analysis, Mr. Hatch has not given any valid or legally supportable reasons why we should bypass the rule of law for Utah; nor can he adequately articulate why he is spending so much time representing Washington, D.C., over the residents of Utah.
