Bingham receiver Mike Edmunds was offered preferred walk-on status at BYU, something he's seriously considering despite two other scholarship offers.
Edmunds, a 6-foot-4 honor student, said BYU coaches made the offer to him Monday when they visited Bingham High to talk with his teammate, highly sought-after linebacker L.T. Filiaga.
"I haven't decided 100 percent," he said. "Before I commit, I want to sit down with the coaches to really see what that would mean."
Edmunds has offers from Weber State and Southern Utah University, although he said the Cougars' recent offer may be more appealing.
"I've always wanted to play at BYU," Edmunds said. "It's just been a dream of mine. It's not a scholarship, but it's a chance to play at BYU. It means the same to me."
Edmunds said he was supposed to meet with coach Brandon Doman, but he flew to Hawaii to talk with Manti Te'o Tuesday. He wasn't sure when he would meet with coaches due to their hectic schedules as signing day approaches, Feb. 4.
