OREM — A man who police say was so angry at being evicted that he stabbed his roommate with a kitchen knife has been arrested.

Doctors at an Orem clinic called police Jan. 21 to report a man had come to them with stab wounds, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.

When police arrived, they learned the man had been cut on his right shoulder blade, his thigh and his finger, according to the affidavit. The shoulder-blade cut required several stitches.

The man told police that two days ago he had been in his apartment kitchen near 900 North and 200 East when his roommate came in, angry that he was being kicked out due to his alleged drug use and stealing of property, the affidavit states.

The roommate, 25, from Magna, grabbed a knife on the counter and began stabbing the man, according to the affidavit. The man wrestled his roommate to get the knife away, at which point the roommate ran from the home.

Detectives tracked the man to a motel in Lehi, where they found him with drugs and drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested Friday night and booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
