An 18-month-old was in very critical condition Monday after a television fell on the boy's head.

The boy, whose name was not released by the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, was playing with three siblings, all under the age of 5, at their home Sunday morning, During the course of play, a stand holding a television set was knocked over and the TV fell on the boy's head, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson.

The boy's parents were in the house, near 200 East and 4100 South, at the time and the father responded quickly to pull the television off his son, Hutson said. The boy was unconscious and not breathing when he was taken to the hospital, he said.

Hutson said the tragic incident is a reminder to all parents to make sure heavy items around their homes, such as TV's and book cases, are secured as much as possible to prevent accidents involving small children.
