Utah State football: Raymond named as Aggie assistant coach

LOGAN — Utah State football coach Gary Andersen announced Thursday that Corey Raymond will be USU's cornerbacks coach.

"Corey brings a great deal of coaching and playing experience to our program. He's a great teacher and a great technician. He's a high energy coach and puts the players first, which is vital on my staff," Andersen said. "His college and professional experience will be beneficial to our players here at Utah State. He's also a terrific recruiter, and he has ties throughout Texas."

Raymond replaces John Rushing, who left the Aggies' program for the Green Bay Packers. Raymond comes to USU after three seasons at Louisiana State, where he worked with the LSU cornerbacks and their strength and conditioning program.

A six-year NFL player, Raymond was with the New York Giants from 1992-1995 and the Detroit Lions from 1995-1998. For his career, Raymond played in 90 games, registering 279 tackles, as well as snaring 11 interceptions, including one for a touchdown. He also had three sacks and one fumble return.
