SOUTH JORDAN — The investigation continued Monday into a shooting here late last week that may be gang related.
Early Friday, two carloads of involving as many as people got into an altercation, said South Jordan police Sgt. Dan Starks. The incident may have started in the parking lot of Valley High School, 325 W.11000 South, he said. Starks did not know Monday if the original argument started there or was a carry-over from somewhere else.
Once on the road, one of the occupants of one car fired multiple shots at the other, Starks said. Possibly three to four shots were fired, he said.
One victim was struck inside the car. He was taken by his friends to a local hospital. Doctors in turn called police. The injury was not serious, Starks said.
After some investigation, one person was arrested over the weekend and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault with gang enhancements. Some of the occupants of the cars were believed to be juveniles. Police were not releasing much information as of Monday because of the on-going investigation. — Pat Reavy
