Man sought in try to kidnap a young girl

Police are seeking a man they say sneaked into a White City home early Sunday and attempted to abduct an 11-year-old girl while she was asleep in her bed.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office reported that a man "surreptitiously entered" a residence near 10300 South and 700 East around 6 a.m. and placed his hands over the eyes and mouth of a girl who was asleep in the bottom tier of a bunk bed. The girl awoke and began to fight and scream, waking a friend, another 11-year-old girl, asleep in the top bunk who turned on a light, causing the man to run out of the house.

The sheriff's office said the man, described as Hispanic with short black hair and a medium build and wearing a dark-colored jacket, fled the area in a white vehicle.
