Utah Grizzlies lose shootout

ONTARIO, Calif. — The Utah Grizzlies battled back from a three-goal deficit in the third period, but lost to the Ontario Reign 7-6 in a shootout on Saturday night.

The Grizzlies, who played past regulation for the eighth time in their last 13 games, now head into their all-star break. Ryan Kinasewich led Utah with two goals and one assist to run his scoring streak to five games. He has four goals and 10 assists during that span.

The Grizzlies led 1-0 and 3-2 before the Reign scored four-straight goals from 18:42

of the second period to 7:11 of the third to build a 6-3 lead.

Utah then countered with three goals in 4:27 to tie with Mike Walsh nodding the game up at 6-6 with 7:01 left in regulation.

Jon Gleed, Tom May and Evan Kotsopoulos also tallied goals for the Grizzlies in the game. Scott Thauwald had two assists.

Mike Mole stopped 25 of 31 in the contest.

Utah returns home to the E-Center to host Idaho in a three-game series on Friday. Face-off on Friday and Saturday is at 7:05 p.m., while Sunday's game begins at 5:05 p.m.
