2 RMs leave college for NFL draft

Two college football players who have served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will leave behind their remaining years of college eligibility and make themselves available for the 2009 National Football League draft.Utah sophomore defensive end Paul Kruger (Orem, Utah) and Brigham Young University junior wide receiver Austin Collie (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) both announced recently that they are leaving school to prepare for a career in professional football.\"I am issuing this statement after much prayer, consideration and evaluation with my family in announcing that I have decided to forgo my final years of eligibility and enter the 2009 NFL draft,\" Kruger said in a statement.\"I do feel confident that I am making the right decision and I'm ready for the next challenge,\" Collie said in an announcement.Both players missed the 2005 and 2006 seasons while serving full-time Mormon missions. Kruger, a graduate of Timpanogos High, redshirted his first year in the Utah program and played as a freshman upon his return from Missouri in 2007, earning all-America honors. He will turn 23 in February.Collie was also a freshman all-American following his first season in 2004, after which he left to serve a mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
