MURRAY — A northbound section of I-15 around 4800 South was temporarily closed Saturday afternoon while emergency crews worked to remove an older male driver from his vehicle, which rolled over.

Initial reports indicated there were no other vehicles involved, but that later proved to be inaccurate, according to Sgt. Jeff Plank of the Utah Highway Patrol.

Plank said later reports stated that there were two vehicles involved, one driven by a female who attempted to change lanes. As she looked over her shoulder, she saw that another vehicle was there and slammed on her brakes. Her car spun out of control and hit the vehicle driven by the man, which caused it to roll over.

"He actually wasn't injured too badly," Plank said. "There was a cut on his nose and glass that cut his face a little bit."

As a precautionary measure, emergency crews extricated the man, put him on a backboard and transported him to a hospital. The woman was not hurt.

Plank said the road was closed for about half an hour, but northbound lanes were narrowed, which caused considerable delays in traffic.
