A Salt Lake City police officer was accidentally tasered by another officer Wednesday while trying to arrest a man suspected of forgery.

Officers were called to a fraud in progress at a 7-Eleven, 490 N. Redwood Road, just before 8 a.m., said Salt Lake police Sgt. Robin Snyder. The two men in question were gone by the time police arrived. But after getting a description of each, Snyder said the officers searched the area and found who they were looking for nearby in a parking lot near 700 North Redwood Road.

As the officer attempted to arrest one of the men, he began to resist, Snyder said. A struggle ensued, prompting a second officer to draw his Taser.

Just as the officer fired his Taser, a third officer, attempting to help subdue the man accidentally got in the way. One probe of the Taser went into the officer's cheek and the other into the suspect, Snyder said.
