INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts have scheduled a news conference, presumably to discuss the future of coach Tony Dungy.

The news conference is set for 5 p.m. Monday at the team's practice facility in Indianapolis, although the Colts did not give a reason in their announcement.

Dungy said after the Colts' overtime playoff loss to the San Diego Chargers nine days ago that he would spend about a week deciding whether to return for an eighth season as their coach.

He spent much of that time in Tampa, Fla., where his wife and children moved full-time about a year ago.

The Colts have designated associate coach Jim Caldwell as Dungy's eventual replacement.

Neither Dungy nor senior Colts officials have returned calls from The Associated Press in recent days about Dungy's future.
