LAYTON — Davis Hospital and Medical Center has opened a new Cancer Treatment Center, providing treatment that's the first of its kind in the state.

The TomoTherapy Treatment system uses a unique CT scanner designed to deliver radiation from all angles around the patient, delivering precise beams that attack tumors while sparing healthy tissue.

With TomoTherapy, the center can use the CT technology to confirm the shape and position of the tumor prior to treatment, then sculpt small, powerful and precise radiation beams to target even hard-to-reach tumors.

Patients interested in the TomoTherapy as a treatment for a cancer diagnosis can call the center at 801-807-7777 for information and referral for evaluation. To learn more about TomoTherapy, visit Davis Hospital's Web site at www.davishospital.com.
