I am a diehard BYU fan, but I am pushing the University of Utah's case for being the national champion. The BCS coordinator, John Swofford, said "The BCS provided a platform for Utah to show the nation what a terrific football team they had this year. Preceding the BCS, I don't know if that platform would have been there."
Is he serious? If Utah did this before the BCS, they would have been the national champions. In 1984, BYU won the national title because the Cougars were the only undefeated team.
I sure hope Mark Shurtleff succeeds at taking down this modern-day caste system.
