For the game, BYU made 57 percent of its shots and hit 10-of-20 from 3-point range. Cummard led all scorers with 19, Fredette chipped in 15 and Morgan 11. Of the Cougars' 36 field goals, 16 came from an assist.
"Today it was a very good indication of how good we can be when we share the ball," Cummard said.
Rose, surprised by the rare lopsided conference road win, praised his team's execution and focus.
"Sometimes when you get a little bit of a lead, this team has turned into individuals where they start to create things for themselves. Today we stayed with our No. 1 focus, which is to play together for the whole 40 minutes," he said.
Defensively, the Cougars were at their best. Even though the game plan was for CSU to run an inside-out spread-it-out game, the Rams depended more on rub-offs and hand-offs to get shots.
However, BYU adjusted to the new look and held the Rams to 33 percent shooting in the first half, 36 percent shooting in the second half, and only 19 percent from long range.
"Defensively, we were really active," Rose said. "We got some hands on the ball, and another thing we did really well is we got to their shooters, and then we rotated really well. ... They didn't get a lot of good, open looks, and that's what you're looking for when you go out on the road in league games."
