Two survivors of a helicopter crash near Salt Lake Airport No. 2 remained in the hospital Friday morning.

Scott Robinson, 24, was listed in serious condition at Intermountain Medical Center and Anthony Meredith, 23, was listed in critical condition. The helicopter was returning from Wendover, Nev., Thursday about 9 p.m. and flying in near white-out conditions, according to police, at the time of the accident.

The helicopter ended up on its side near 6600 South and state Route 111, about a mile off the road and a few miles from the airport. Both Robinson and Meredith were trapped inside.

Robinson's father, Scott Robinson Sr., told KSL-TV that after the crash, his son called family members to say he had been in a crash.

"He said, 'There's blood everywhere.' And I said, 'Where's (Meredith) bleeding, son? Find where he's bleeding, that's what you need to do, you need to stop it.' It was blood running off of Scottie's face, dripping on Tony," he said in the interview.

The younger Robinson was disoriented and didn't know exactly where he had crashed, his father said. He stayed on the phone with his father and emergency dispatchers, helping to lead them to where he was.

"All I could think about was keeping him at the crash site, kept him awake and kept him warm," the father said.

At the hospital Friday, the father said the last thing his son remembered was taking off from the Bountiful Skypark on his way to Wendover. His son suffered cuts on his head and Meredith had a bruised lung, he said.

The son has a commercial pilot's license and about 130 hours of flying time, his father said.

Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson said the men were flying from Wendover, Nev., and stopped in Tooele to refuel before continuing the rest of the way.
