Chamber names 2009 business award winners

The Salt Lake Chamber on Thursday announced the winners of its 2009 Small Business Awards.

Small Business of the Year is The Mandarin restaurant, located in Bountiful. The Entrepreneurial Success award will go to Sam Weller's Zion Bookstore. The Community Service award will be presented to Junior Achievement of Utah. Manuel's Fine Foods is the Minority Small Business of the Year.

Winners will receive their awards at the chamber's 106th annual meeting Jan. 29. The chamber said recipients were selected for "Bucking the Trends and Reining in a Wild Economy," the theme of this year's annual meeting.

During the event, the chamber will honor former chairman Scott Hymas, president and chief executive officer of RC Willey. The chamber also has named six 2009 Chamber Champions: Kameron Emery of Mount Olympus Waters Inc., Kent Gibson of Zions Securities Corp., Gretta Spendlove of Durham Jones & Pinegar PC, Mark Walker of EnergySolutions and Nathan Wickizer of Cache Valley Electric Co.
