Starting shooting guard C.J. Miles sustained what the Jazz are calling a "moderate" sprain of his right ankle in Utah's win Wednesday over New Orleans.
X-rays were negative, but the Jazz offered no timetable for how long they expect Miles to be out.
"I don't think it was as bad as mine," said Jazz point guard Deron Williams, who missed 13 games earlier this season due to a severe ankle sprain sustained in the preseason.
"I mean, he could walk off the court," Williams said. "There was no way I could have walked off the court."
Miles seen wearing a walking boot afterward was injured when he came down on the foot of the Hornets' James Posey after hitting a jumper late in the third quarter.
He came into the night averaging 9.8 points per game, and finished with eight Wednesday on 3-of-6 shooting from the field.
KJZZ VS. DIRECTV: One down, 15 to go.
That's the count of Jazz games lost to DirecTV viewers thanks to an ongoing flap between team-affiliated KJZZ-TV and the satellite provider.
KJZZ ended its retransmission agreement with DirecTV at the start of 2009, meaning none of the station's programming and none of 16 Jazz games this season including Wednesday's against All-Star Chris Paul and the Hornets will be aired on DirecTV until some sort of settlement is reached.
KJZZ is seeking remuneration for its programming, and DirecTV which previously received retransmission rights for free has refused to pay.
KJZZ general manager Chris Baum said Wednesday night that he had a "good conversation" with a DirecTV representative Tuesday night, and that based on those talks the local station "put together a revised offer to them."
Baum called terms of the station's new proposal "reasonable" and "a very aggressive revision," but did not disclose what they were.
"They told us they would evaluate it," Baum said. "As of right now we haven't heard back from them."
Asked for a response to the proposal, a DirecTV spokesman said via e-mail Wednesday night that there was "nothing new to report."
The next game DirecTV customers will miss if no new agreement is reached comes Jan. 24 vs. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
