Salt Lake police are waiting for a report from the state medical examiner to determine the cause of death of an 85-year-old man found under a layer of snow outside his trailer.

Just after 9 a.m. Tuesday the body of a man, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was found covered by a blanket, lying in the snow, said Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan. Investigators said the body may have been there all night.

The man was found right outside his trailer that was on the property of a business near 3400 West and 900 South. The victim had apparently received permission to live in a trailer on the property for several years, McGowan said. It was unknown Tuesday if the trailer had any electricity or heat.

The death is not believed to be suspicious.
