I appreciate that some of the media are now taking the opportunity to show that the current situation is bringing to light the failures of the BCS. However, the way most of the media comment on Utah, I still would not expect them to have any chance to get a No. 1 ranking in the AP. Especially after watching postgame on either Fox sports or ESPN, which already discount the Utes' chances against any remaining one-loss team.
What I'm waiting for is a few sports writers to suggest that every non-BCS coach with a vote in the polls put Utah as their No. 1 without regard to the winner of the championship game. If only Kyle Whittingham's vote shows as a single dissent, it will be a sad commenton the subservience of non-BCS coaches. It wouldn't make Utah the champ, but that would be a great thumb on the nose to the whole system.
