OGDEN A woman taking her grandson home to his parents after he spent the night at her house was killed in a traffic accident on I-15 Saturday.
About 3 p.m. a woman was in the center lane of I-15 with her 10-year-old grandson in the back seat of the vehicle when she started to change lanes, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Blaine Robbins.
A car reportedly moved up behind her, possibly in her blind spot. As the woman was changing lanes, she quickly jerked the steering wheel back and overcorrected, Robbins said.
"She went to change lanes and suddenly the other car was there," he said.
The woman's car went sideways on the road and was broadsided by a large pickup truck, Robbins said. Liliya M. Barinova, 61, of Pleasant Grove was killed.
The child, from Providence, suffered a broken arm, Robbins said, and was taken to a local hospital where his parents were notified of the accident.
