Fresh off a convincing victory over one Pac-10 foe, the Utah women's basketball team will work to duplicate the feat when they return home to take on USC tonight.
On Sunday, Kalee Whipple scored 14 of her 15 points in the second half to help the Utes pull away for a 63-49 road victory over reeling Oregon. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Utah (5-6), which can get back to .500 with a win over the Trojans at the Huntsman Center.
With her solid performance against the Ducks, Whipple became the 21st player in Ute history to score more than 1,000 points during her career. She and teammate Morgan Warburton are currently the only players in the MWC with more than 1,000 career points.
USC (6-4) has already lost twice to teams from the beehive state this season. The Trojans fell at home to Utah Valley 66-64 and lost in Provo to BYU 65-64 on back-to-back nights earlier this month.
USC leads the all-time series with Utah 5-2.
