Ogden police are investigating a crime spree that left two people shot and wounded.

Police said it began around 9 p.m. Sunday when a woman was robbed at gunpoint at 25th Street and Grant Avenue.

"A man brandishing a silver handgun got away with her purse and cash," Ogden Police Lt. Scott Sangberg said.

About 1:30 a.m. Monday, police responded to 21st Street and Lincoln Avenue on a report of shots fired. En route, officers got a call from McKay-Dee Hospital, where a 21-year-old man was in the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his leg.

He told officers that he was walking home carrying a gym bag when a man held him up.

"He also wanted his wallet and money. (The victim) said he didn't have any money and the guy was leaving," Sangberg said. "(The victim) asked for his bag back, and the guy turned and fired three rounds, one of which hit him in the leg."

Police said the robber's description was the same for both incidents — a Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5 feet tall, 160 pounds, wearing a gray sweatshirt and jeans.

About 5 a.m. Monday, police responded to another shooting at 621 29th St.

"Two men claimed they were outside smoking and someone approached them and fired off a number of rounds, one of which hit one of the men in the head," Sangberg said.

The bullet didn't enter the man's brain, police said, but became lodged between the skin and the skull. Witnesses and the victim refused to say what happened, but at the scene, officers found a man who matched the description of the assailant.

"They did find an ID card of the female victim from the first robbery," Sangberg said.

The man was not arrested because police could not immediately locate the victims, but investigators are following up on the case, police said.
