NEW ORLEANS — Utah athletics director Chris Hill declined to confirm a television report that head football coach Kyle Whittingham will be getting a new five-year contract worth $1.2 million annually.

There is nothing new to report at this time, Hill said. We may have something in the near future.

Last month, Hill told the Deseret News that the university would like to reward Whittingham for his 35-14 overall record and berth in this season's Bowl Championship Series.

"Obviously we're very pleased with what Kyle's done. We want to extend his contract," Hill said. "And we want to do what we can to make sure he feels good about being at the University of Utah. He deserves that."
