More than 3,400 Rocky Mountain Power customers were in the dark for a couple of hours after two electric substations went out about 6:25 p.m. Saturday.
Power was restored by 8 p.m., said Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen.
Crews plan to further investigate the cause of the blackout, which may be tied to two substations that transmit electricity to customers in Bluffdale, Copperton and Herriman.
Eskelsen said a double substation blackout can mean a problem in the substation or in the transmission system, and that those problems can be remedied relatively easily.
The difficulty is that it can be time-consuming to find the problem, Eskelsen said.
The investigation is expected to continue Sunday.
