It features interviews with the surviving relatives of the conspirators, rare footage of Hitler's inner circle shot by mistress Eva Braun, a detailed reconstruction of Hitler's military headquarters and a dramatization of the assassination attempt, and commentary from the leading scholars on the Stauffenberg conspiracy.
Bonus features include footage from the Stauffenberg estate, an examination of other attempts to kill Hitler and a visit to the German Resistance Memorial Center.
"World's Most Amazing Videos, Volume One," (Universal, not rated, 3 hours and 31 minutes $14.98): If rubbernecking at a freeway accident is your style, then this DVD is for you.
This DVD is five episodes from the 2006 TV series. Narrated by actor Stacey Keach, the "you-won't-believe-your-eyes" footage includes just what you'd expect — freak accidents, stuns gone awry, natural disasters, police shootouts and other mishaps where the participants cheat death, although just barely.
Each episode includes several heart-pounding moments and there are interviews with some of the survivors. It's not rated but it definitely isn't family friendly, especially for little ones. (Watch the Muppets, instead.)
