MIDVALE Police say their investigation into a Monday afternoon stabbing has already been derailed because the victim isn't being straightforward with them.
"All the information he's telling us is absolute lies at this point," Midvale Police Sgt. Gregg Olsen said Monday night.
Police received report of a stabbing at 150 W. 7200 South on Monday about 4 p.m., Olsen said. They found the victim, a Hispanic male, with minor stab wounds to his arm and chest.
The victim told police a brown SUV pulled up and two men, one white and one Hispanic, got out, Olsen said. The Hispanic male punched the victim several times, pulled out a 2-inch knife and stabbed him in the arm and chest.
However, police doubt his story because witnesses discredit information he provided officers, Olsen said. The victim also lied about his identity because he is in the country illegally. At this point the investigation is snagged until they find a new lead, Olsen said. Anyone with information regarding the incident can call 801-840-4000.
