Regarding Breck England's letter (Readers' Forum, Dec. 21). The story tells that Scrooge had a good change of heart, but that doesn't qualify him as a liberal. Scrooge gave of his own money, whereas liberals generally contrive to give away others' cash. In fact, a really accomplished liberal will design a way to enrich himself while redistributing the wealth of others, a la Rod Blagojevich. It's the very Hallmark of liberalism. It's unfair to charge poor Scrooge with being a liberal when he isn't here to answer such a scurrilous indictment. If taking the earnings of others qualifies you as a "decent human being," I prefer to remain conservative and indecent.
