Regarding Breck England's letter (Readers' Forum, Dec. 21), I agree. The reformed Scrooge was very liberal — in his personal life. Our society would benefit greatly if more people would adopt practices such as Mr. Scrooge did.
Just because Ebenezer Scrooge began to give liberally to others does not say he was politically liberal. Unfortunately, too many individuals who consider themselves either liberal or conservative politically are heard to say, "Let the government take care of the poor, so I don't have to."
