Two arrested in Ecstasy bust

A suspected Ecstasy dealer was arrested Thursday night by Salt Lake police.

Investigators were keeping surveillance on a suspected drug house when a woman walked out and drove away. Officers followed that woman who went to a parking lot near 4400 South and 850 West where another car was waiting, said Salt Lake police spokeswoman Lara Jones.

A man inside the second vehicle got in with her. Police followed the car and pulled it over a short time later, Jones said. Officers also went to the other vehicle still in the parking lot where the occupants consented to having the car searched, she said. Inside, detectives found Ecstasy in the center console and in a computer bag.

John Smalls, 41, was arrested for investigation of drug possession.

Officers, with the assistance of a SWAT team, then when back to the house near 4400 South and 900 East and served a search warrant. Inside, they found more than 1,000 Ecstasy pills as well as a small amount of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms, Jones said. Scales and drug packaging material was also found.

Kenneth Goode, 23, was arrested for investigation of drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a restricted person and drug possession.
