A snow storm in Las Vegas has essentially shut down its airport, diverting several flights to Salt Lake City on Wednesday evening.
The Salt Lake City Department of Airports reported that as of 9 p.m., seven flights were diverted and landed at the Salt Lake International Airport, and it expects more throughout the night.
"The information we are getting is that this is a really unusual, major storm for the area and they have no snow or ice equipment at that airport," said Barbara Gann, airport spokeswoman. "The airport has not been officially closed in Las Vegas but for all practical purposes they are not operating."
Gann was unsure how long the planes would be delayed in Salt Lake City but it appeared that some would most likely stay overnight.
