Five people have been chosen as nominees to take the place of 2nd District Judge Parley Baldwin, who will retire at the end of the year.
The Second District Judicial Nominating Commission has selected: Catherine Conklin, a 2nd District Court commissioner; Martin Custen, an Ogden attorney in private practice; Mark DeCaria, the Weber County Attorney; L. Dean Saunders, a deputy Weber County attorney; and Gary Williams, the Ogden city attorney.
Written comments about a nominee can be sent to Second District Nominating Commission Chairman Robert Stott at the Administrative Office of the Courts, P.O. Box 140241, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-0241. Comments must be received by 5 p.m. on Dec. 26.
Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. will selected a nominee for the position and that individual's name will be forwarded to the Senate Confirmation Committee. The final step is confirmation by the Utah Senate.
